Yes, a number of US universities have gone test-optional, and several accept applicants with a GPA as low as 2.5–3.0 on a 4.0 scale. A lower GPA can affect scholarship eligibility, so check each university's page for merit-aid cutoffs before applying.

Take a full-length practice test first. The gap between that score and your target score determines your prep duration as a rule of thumb. A 100-point improvement typically needs 2-3 months of consistent study.

No, but your prep needs to be more focused and intensive. Prioritise your the weakest section, set a realistic target based on your baseline score. Aim for September-November SAT date to leave room for one retake.

There's no formal SAT prep needed before Grade 10. From Grade 10 onwards, taking the PSAT and a diagnostic practice test helps you plan your Grade 11 study schedule.

Yes, 1450 is a good SAT score nationally, but it lies below the unofficial range of admissions at Yale. Yale University do not have an official minimum requirement in terms of SAT and ACT scores for admission, but some unofficial sources confirm that, due to high selectivity the admitted students score the highest percentiles. The range of SAT and ACT scores of admitted students lies between 1480 and 1560 on the SAT and 33 and 35 on the ACT. The high selectivity of Yale University demands excellent scores in addition to the relevant experience and expertise in the field of study.

A score of 35 on the ACT exam is considered almost equal to or slightly better than a score of 1550 on the SAT exam. However, both the scores are in the 99th percentile and highly competitive to get into the top universities. - so there is no meaningful difference in how admissions officers will evaluate them.

Test-optional means you can choose whether to submit scores. Test-blind (test-free) means the school won't consider scores even if you submit them.

Policies vary. Schools generally state that non-submitters aren't penalized, but a strong score can still help strengthen an application at a test-optional school, especially if other parts of your profile (GPA, essays) are less competitive.
