Yes, staff selection commission conducts the SSC CGL exam every year, to recruit the various post under various ministries, departments, and organizations. SSC release the SSC CGL online application form in May. If you want to apply for this exam, then you must wait next year. SSC CGL Exam is conducted into four tiers and there are no interview process. If you are cleared all the tiers then you will get a post under SSC CGL 2017.
Tier 1 - Computer based written exam
Tier 2 - Computer based written exam
Tier 3 - Descriptive paper
Tier 4 - Skill test/ Typing test/ Document verification

Hi,
You can take some cues from my preparation strategy for SSC CGL. I was able to secure 165 in English Tier-2 in SSC CGL 2016 exam. I was in a habit of reading The Hindu newspaper. I think, it is one of the biggest contributor to my success. I used to read it for 1- 1.5 hours right from Front page, Editorial, Business, and Sports, National, International and some other news. So, indirectly, over a period of times, my English interpretation skills improved a lot. B.Tech students can give SSC CGL Exam.
Students who have completed B.Tech course or are in the final year of engineering can appear for the SSC CGL exam. SSC CGL is a prestigious examination conducted for various group B and group C jobs for Central government. Group B posts such as ITI, Central excise etc. can promote you to Group A (IRS) after few years of service. Also they are very prestigious jobs which earn you prestige in the society. After the 7th pay you get a handsome salary upon joining these jobs.

I have cleared this exam without any coaching. I had even studied only from the standard books available in the market. But Before I start, it would be pertinent to tell you my qualification and my level of knowledge before preparation. So that you could appreciate this answer better. Qualification: BE (Computers). 1. MATHS: Non-Maths background student generally stereotype Engineers that all are good at Maths. No doubt we have an edge over Arts, commerce student. We can learn it faster than them. Strategy for SSC Tier I
The question paper comprises of 4 parts -
1) Quantitative aptitude
2) Logical Reasoning
3) English Language
4) General Studies
1) For Quantitative aptitude, brush up your basics. Select a good book. Practice as many questions, as many times, as you can. You can go for Kiran publication book for mathematics. It is a compilation of SSC questions chapter-wise. It is very beneficial for SSC exams specially for CGL, CHSL.
2) For Reasoning, refer to RS Agarwal. It will be good enough. Just practice and practice a lot. That will only save your life.

Relax: One of the best things to do. People are posting questions should I leave my job to prepare for SSC CGL. And Which coaching I should join to clear SSC CGL. I mean, that's ridiculous.
