With an acceptance rate of almost 48%, admissions at Stony Brook is selective. In order to have a good chance of being admitted, applicants must be at the top of their class and have an SAT score around 1600, or an ACT score of around 35. Apart from thisw, candidates also need to prove English language proficiency while applying to Stony Brook University (SUNY). Stony Brook University accepts IELTS score of 6.5 and TOEFL iBT score of 85 for admissions to graduate courses.

SBU's international students are eligible for Global Excellence Scholarship offered by Stony Brook University. This is given to those students who show exceptional performance in - high school academic program, SAT/ACT scores, co-curricular activities, research experiences, or even special talents or skills portrayal. GPA of 3.0 in prior academic work is required for admission. GPA below 3.0 could be considered in exceptional cases for conditional admission to the College of Business. If admitted on conditional basis, students must achieve a 3.0 GPA in the first semester in order to continue the chosen study course.

As an international student, you will be required to demonstrate English proficiency.

A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in previous coursework. A GPA below 3.0 may, in extreme circumstances, be taken into consideration for "conditional admission" to the College of Business. Conditionally admitted students who wish to continue in the programme must earn a 3.0 GPA during their first semester.  

Calculus for three credit. The successful completion of a 3-credit calculus course with a grade of "C" or above must be documented by the applicant. Based on their college degree, professional experience, and desired career path, applicants may ask for a waiver.

The average duration of an MBA at SBU is around 36 to 48 credits, which vary depedning on whether one goes for either full-time or part-time.
Classes are available to be taken in the fall and spring semesters, and in the form of three-week winter term and two six-week summer sessions.
