Lateral admission or admission directly into second year of engineering after completion of Diploma is a very typical Indian phenomena. When you are thinking of studying abroad, I am afraid, lateral admissions are just not available but your Diploma studies will come in handy for getting you admission for an engineering course. Perhaps exactly on the same lines what IITs do in India.
Best wishes to you.

It's a tough query that you have raised. There are no easy answers. Actually there will be as many opinions as asked. This is an area where perceptions play an important part. I would like to advise you to have a different approach. First decide to which country you want to go. Then select university. Then, methodically fulfill all criteria and admission would be a simple affair.
Best wishes to you.

It is very good to see your intention of doing your under graduation abroad. Keeping aim or setting a target is the first step in career building. You have already done this. Remember "never take no for an answer"! There are always ways and means to go abroad for doing your engineering after completion of your Diploma in India. I would like to advise you at this stage to go to an agency which is dealing with sending students for graduation abroad. This is so since there are many nuances in the whole process and these Agencies are well aware of these nuances. Your chances of success will improve if you go to a repute
