UGC conducts CSIR NET/JRF in sciences and engineering subjects. It is also to be noted that the minimum qualification to appear in a particular subject is post-graduation in that subject.

The UGC NET Exam was conducted by CBSE but now from December National Testing Agency is going to conduct the NET exam. The NET exam is conducted twice in June-July and December Month in online mode only. The July 2018 exam was successfully conducted on 8 July and the Next 2018 NET exam is scheduled in December. Yes, you are eligible for UGC NET exam if you have done post-graduation in comparative literature. But make sure you can fulfill other requirements of the exam eligibility. If you belong to General category then you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks in Masters or 50% aggregate marks if you are from SC/ST/PwD/OBC category. You have to fulfill age criteria also I. e. your age must not more than 30 years (for General Male candidates). SC/ST/PwD/OBC/Women candidates get 5 year's age relaxation.

There will be 50 objective type questions each carrying 2 marks in paper I. The second paper will consist of 100 objective type questions each carrying 2 marks.

Yes, you can eligible to apply for the NET exam.

The NEST exam of NET will be conducted in the month of December, 2018 probably under of control of new regulatory authority, because UGC is going to be scrap and the NET exam will have online pattern for which notification is yet to come.

As you said you have a Master's degree in Economics, so you can appear for UGC NET in Economics itself. You don't need to choose any other subject under Economics. Make sure that you should have minimum 55% aggregate marks (For general) or 50% aggregate marks (for SC/ST/OBC/PwD category). If you want to apply for JRF, then your age must not exceed 30 years. For Assistant Professor, this type of conditions are not applied.
