Teaching & Education Entrance Exam

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify UPTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for UPTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. The educational qualification criteria has been given below for the candidates:

• Paper 1 
  • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd)
• Paper 2
  • Graduation with a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education. Graduation with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in one-year BEd.

UPTET Paper 1 consists of 5 sections, namely Child Development and Pedagogy, Language 1 (Hindi), Language 2 (English/Urdu/Sanskrit), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Each section contains 30 questions, with a total of 150 questions and a maximum score of 150 marks. UPTET Paper 1 includes: 1. Child Development and Pedagogy: This section tests the candidates' understanding of the concepts and principles of child development and the process of learning. It includes questions on child psychology, teaching methodologies, learning theories, etc. 2. Language 1 (Hindi): This section tests the candidates' proficiency in the Hindi language, including grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills. 3. Language 2 (English/Urdu/Sanskrit): In this section, candidates can choose to answer questions in either English, Urdu, or Sanskrit, depending on their preference. The section tests the candidates' proficiency in the chosen language, including grammar, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing skills. 4. Mathematics: This section tests the candidates' knowledge and understanding of mathematical concepts, including numbers, geometry, algebra, etc. 5. Environmental Studies: This section tests the candidates' knowledge of the environment, including topics such as ecology, pollution, natural resources, etc. Each section carries equal weightage, and candidates must score a minimum of 60% marks to qualify the UPTET exam. The exam is conducted for a duration of 2.5 hours, and there is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
