There are about 25+ best MEd colleges in West Bengal. Of these,  15 colleges are privately owned, 9 colleges are owned by public/government organisations, and public-private entities own 2 colleges. Calcutta University Entrance Exam is the only entrance exam accepted by top MEd (Master of Education) colleges in West Bengal. Baihata Chariali B.Ed. College accepts the Pre Entry Test (PET) conducted by the State Council of Educational Research and Training, Assam, for its B.Ed. admission. Admittance is given on the merit list basis of total marks obtained in PET along with their HSSLC or Graduation Marks. This test has to be qualified, which is out of 100 marks.

Similarly, admission to the Diploma in Elementary Education also follows this criterion, wherein the candidate has to qualify in the PET conducted by SCERT, Assam.
