Eligibility criteria for the B.Ed. course: Students with at least 50 percent marks either in the Bachelor's degree / the master's degree in Science, social sciences, or humanities, or a Bachelor in engineering or technology with specialisation in Physics, Chemistry, and Maths with 55 percent marks or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission to the B.Ed. programme. A Bachelor of Education (B.Ed. ) is an undergraduate professional degree. However, D. El. Ed. is a Diploma-level course. Therefore, you can pursue both courses together when you need to pursue one of them in distance mode. With the B.Ed. degree, you will be eligible to teach students up to the senior secondary level. On the other hand, with the D. El. Ed. course, you will be eligible to teach primary-level students.

Yes, you can take SST in CTET Paper 2 as per eligibility criteria. The criteria to apply for CTET Paper 2 is a graduation degree with either a B.Ed. Degree or D.Ed. Diploma. The second paper is for teaching posts at the upper primary level, i.e., classes 6 to 8. For example, in question paper 2, there are a total of five parts, of which parts II (mathematics and Science) and III (social studies and social Science) are objective. There will be 60 questions in each part, and you will have to attempt anyone that you filled out in your application form. If you want to go for social Science, you will have to attempt Part III, and the questions will be from topics such as history and geography. Also in interviews, you will be asked to justify why you chose social Science after being a science graduate.

According to the eligibility criteria, you are eligible to appear for CTET Paper 2 in social Science. The basic criteria are that you have completed your graduate degree and either a B.Ed. Or D.Ed. However, since you are a biology graduate, the social studies question may become a challenge in CTET Paper 2 and also while applying for a teaching post at the upper primary level, i.e., classes 6 to 8. In question paper 2, there are a total of five parts, out of which parts 2 (mathematics and Science) and 3 (social studies and social Science) are optional. You will be required to answer 60 questions from any one section as filled out by you in your online application form. Since you want to go for social Science, the questions will come from topics such as history, geography, social and political life, etc., which you might not have studied in depth. Also, during the interview, you will be asked why you chose social Science after doing a B.Sc. In Biology. Therefore, you are advised to select Mathematics and Science for appearing in CTET Paper 2.
