You should prepare for the other two subjects as well because you may be getting an honours degree in Mathematics but the course includes the other two subjects as well.

Preparation tips for the PUBDET: Get the syllabus. Usually, the seniors are very helpful in this regard. Collect the last 5 years' question papers. Study the theory portion from Resnick-Halliday-Walker/ Sears-Zemansky, if you have used them for your IIT preparation. Otherwise, any standard textbook for Plus Two would suffice. However, familiarity with the two classics I just mentioned would help you once your course commences.
For problems, H. C. Verma is MORE THAN SUFFICIENT. You don't need Irodov. Again. Stick to basics and don't try to digest H. C. Verma, if you haven't used it in the last 2 years, you won't be able to. But do a thor

I would say, focus on your B.Tech preparation. From third year onwards, you can prepare for CAT better try to get into IIMs.
