UGC exam has few science streams. M.Sc in organic chemistry would come under the chemical Science stream. This exam would cover questions from different Science streams which come under chemical Science like organic and inorganic chemistry.
The exam is for 2 1/2 hours and has two papers. The first paper will contain general science questions. This will be common for all exam streams of NET. Paper 2 will have short answer questions and this is specific to each Science stream. This will be in descriptive form. On behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts National Eligibility Test (NET). UGC NET is conducted twice a year in order to select candidates for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. The upper age limit for junior research fellowship ( JRF) offered through the National Eligibility Test NET 2018 is increased by two years, making it 30 years.
