Lucknow University admission to most of the undergraduate and postgraduate courses is based on Undergraduate Entrance Test (UGET), Under Graduate Professional Entrance Test (UGPET) and Postgraduate Entrance Test PGET. All these entrance tests are conducted by the University of Lucknow. Apart from these, the University also accepts a few national-level entrance exams. Lucknow University also accepts direct admission to vacant & NRI seats for BTech & MCA programme.

The Lucknow University provides residential facilities to all the teachers, students, and non-teaching staff. The university houses as many as 15+ hostels for boys and girls in the university with Kailash Hall and Nivedita Hall which can house almost 500+ female students.
