To get admission in MIT, you need to work extremely hard to build your profile. You must demonstrate the ability to do research, think critically and creatively. SAT is just a small portion of your overall profile. You must have impeccable academics, and diverse extracurricular activities demonstrating a significant level of engagement in them. All said, you must understand that only 2-3% of Indian applicants get accepted at colleges like MIT.

1) Good score in SAT and TOEFL exams
2) Teacher's recommendation
3) Extra curricular activities
4) Mid-year school reports
5) Counsellor's recommendation

It depends on a lot of factors like which university you are applying to, the desired programme, your financial situation, career plans, etc. You know that your academic background is not too competitive, but a very exceptional personal statement, essays and recommendation letters will push your application.
