Banaras Hindu University has seat reservation of SC, ST, OBC, and other such category candidates. Additionally, seats are reserved for females, physically challenged, visually impaired, etc., candidates as well. Some key pointers related to BHU reservation policy are as follows:The university reserves 15% and 7.5% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, respectively for each course.27% of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the OBC category (excluding under creamy layer); not applicable for all courses.3% of seats are reserved for Physically Challenged Candidates. Wherein,  1% is for each category: Visually Impaired, Hearing Impaired, and Orthopaedically Handicapped.15% of seats are for only female candidates out of the total seat intake for M.P.Ed. course. If the seats are left vacant, male candidates are allotted seats based on merit.15% of the supernumerary seats in all the courses are for the sons/daughters (including married daughters) of permanent employees (including those on probation) of BHU currently in service.There are also supernumerary paid seats available (not exceeding 15% of the total number of seats) for some courses (not available for Special Courses)About 15% of supernumerary seats are for Foreign nationals, out of which 5% of seats shall be filled up by children of NRIs and 5% by children of Indian workers in Gulf and South Asian Countries
