The CUSAT offers admission to the Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. Lateral Entry) course on the basis of a three-year Diploma in Engineering/Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks. Additionally, candidates with a Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology offered by CIPET with not less than 60% marks are also eligible for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Lateral Entry.

For reserved category students, the admission criteria for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering at CUSAT includes a 5% relaxation in minimum required marks for the qualifying examination. Additionally, students should have a B.Tech/BE/AMIE/AMIETE Degrees in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology / Electronics and Communication / Electrical and Electronics / MCA / Postgraduate degree in Maths/Statistics/Computer Science from any Universities in Kerala or an Examination of any other University/Institution accepted by this University as equivalent thereto, with a minimum of 50% or equivalent CGPA Grade.

The eligibility criteria for admission to CUSAT for Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech. Lateral Entry) are:
Any three-year Diploma in Engineering / Technology awarded by a Board of Technical Education recognised by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks.
Candidates who have completed 3-year Diploma in Plastic Technology and Diploma in Plastic Mould Technology offered by CIPET with not less than 60% marks are eligible for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering Lateral Entry.
Candidates belonging to Kerala Scheduled Caste (KSC) and Kerala Scheduled Tribe (KST) communities are eligible for applying, if they have minimum pass marks in the qualifying examination.
SEBC candidates of Kerala State belonging to non-creamy layer category are eligible for 5% relaxation in the minimum required marks for the qualifying examination.
For Instrumentation and Control Engineering, 3 years Diploma in Instrumentation or Electronics awarded by a board recognised by the department of technical education, Govt. of Kerala, with not less than 60% marks is required.
A pass in the Diploma Examination in Engineering/Technology conducted by the State Board of Technical Education, Kerala or other states or any other equivalent examination after undergoing an institutional course of minimum 3 years duration with a minimum of 50 percent marks or equivalent.
Candidates should be on permanent technical / professional employment for at least two years at the time of application after passing the Diploma Examination in any of the following type of establishments: Government Organizations, Quasi - Government Organizations, Industrial firm duly registered under Society's Act, Public or Private limited companies registered under Companies Act.
