According to the UGC, all the degrees are equal value and for the government services. It is not a problem. Most of the public sector companies are not accepting the distance education and all are asking for a full-time degree with a minimum of 60% of marks.
So, my personal experience is, distance education degrees will not have a good worth. But in the case of serving employees in the government sector/private sector for promotion prospectus, it is useful to do distance education degrees. If a person wants to start a career with distance education degrees, it is somewhat difficult.
Further, correspondence degree has a full validity for PG courses if it is recognized by UGC-DEB.

But in the rest of the world, library science is also known as information science and is a very promising course, companies like Google, AOL and Bing are opening great opportunities for them. Go ahead with LIS and apply in big MNCs.
