Candidates need to pass 10+2 examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with an aggregate of 60% marks. Students also need to appear for the Joint Entrance Examination conducted by IITs between January to May. Students seeking admission to non-IIT colleges will need to apply for the entrance exams.

To be eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam, candidates must first clear the JEE Main exam and rank among the top 2.5 Lacs candidates. Only those who qualify in the JEE Advanced exam are eligible for admission to the Aerospace Engineering course at IIT Bombay. After the declaration of JEE Advanced results, candidates who have qualified for the exam are required to register for JoSAA counselling. JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) is responsible for conducting the counselling and seat allotment process for admission to IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other participating institutes. The counselling and seat allotment process involves several rounds, during which candidates are allotted seats in different colleges and courses based on their JEE Advanced rank, category, and preferences. Candidates who are allotted seats in the Aerospace Engineering course at IIT Bombay must then complete the admission process by submitting the necessary documents and paying the admission fee.
