Well, the answer is complicated. It is yes if you attend the counselling, even in the last day of counselling, with your rank you will be preferred before, but the availability of departments like ECE and CSE is not possible. The answer is no if you are planning to come after all the counselling dates.

Don't be depressed because I had the same rank in my counselling time and am pursuing ECE Now at SASTRA Thanjavur Campus. Luck beholds you believe. And another thing doing any course in SASTRA is a dream come true for people and you have related courses too like ICT and IT with that of CSE. Perhaps you have another option called sliding via which you can swap your departments in the first year with some other person if you have a high score. You will be briefed about it once you get into SASTRA. All the best.

The curriculum may or may not be helpful to your career. In reality, there is only 20% of the total strength of the department who are able to be placed in companies where they get chance to work in their respective education. Coming to teaching, there are very good professors who are ready to learn new things with you and share their industrial experience. Indeed those lessons will be helpful only to a minimal extent for placements. The curriculum will be helpful up to 70% for National Level exams like GATE. If you are interested in researching, you have great opportunities at SASTRA.

As both Shiv Nadar and SASTRA are good for pursuing B.Tech. But, I reccomend you to go for SASTRA University. There are lots of streams available for you like B.Tech in CSE, IT, ME, civil engineering, chemical engineering, Biomedical engineering, Biotechnology, Food technology, Electrical engineering, EEE, Electronics, Automobile engineering and others. The most important thing which rely totally on your area of your interest. When you are sure about your area of interest then you can choose the above engineering streams for pursuing your graduation. There may not be many institutes and universities which will be offering you all such engineering courses in one campus. You should prefer the university or institute which offers you good placements and good practical and industrial exposure also and should have good infrastructure also.
