SASTRA University Course Admissions 2025: Application Form, Last Date, Eligibility

At the undergraduate level, this deemed University offers BTech across 30 specialisations along with Integrated MTech across two specialisations. Spread over four years and eight semesters, admission to BTech is possible at SASTRA Deemed University via two methods:

Stream 1: JEE Mains + Class 12 marks (50% weightage given to each), for admission to 50% of the total seats

Stream 2: Class 12 marks (100% weightage), for admission to the remaining 50%

The following qualifications must be met by the students to secure admission to BTech at Sastra:

• Candidates must have obtained 60% aggregate in their Class 12 with Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science, and Biology from a recognised board.
• Taken JEE Main exam

Admission to SASTRA Chennai (Deemed to be University) is entrance-based. Some of the national-level exams accepted are CUET/JEE Main/XAT,  CAT,  CMAT, etc. It is also crucial that the aspirants meet the course-specific minimum eligibility criteria. Interested students can apply by visiting the university official website.

Earlier, SASTRA University application process was conducted in both online and offline modes. However, 2022 onwards, the process has shifted completely to online mode.

• Aspirants seeking admission can visit the official website of the deemed university, apply online and pay the application fee.
• Further, they have to go through the selection rounds and counselling process and then confirm their seat on payment of the admission tuition fee.
• Candidates will be able to apply for the respective courses by visiting the official website of the university.

The deemed University conducts its own entrance exam for admission to the full-time PhD course. However, candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / GATE / UPSC or any other recognised competitive exam are exempted from the entrance test. Additionally, it is mandatory for all the candidates to clear the interview. A step-by-step process of admission is as follows:

1: Check out the eligibility criteria. For PhD, students need to have a master's degree in the relevant field with a minimum of 55% aggregate.

2: The application process for PhD admission at SASTRA University is completely online. Candidates can find the application form on official website of the university.

3: Submit the application fee. The same is INR 500 for PhD.

4: Submit all the required documents. A list of all the required documents for PhD admission at SASTRA Deemed University are as follows:

• Scanned copy of mark sheets
• Scanned copy of degree certificate
• Scanned copy of passport-size photograph
• Research proposal
• Two letters of recommendation

5: After application, candidates are required to appear for the entrance exam which usually is conducted in the month of June. If shortlisted in the same, candidates will receive a call. Those who wish to confirm admission can pay the admission fee and confirm their seat.

The total course fee for the MSc course at SASTRA University ranges between INR 80,000 to INR 2 lakh. Admission to the MSc course is based on merit scores in the last qualifying exam. This course is offered across three specialisations including Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics and Data Science. Check out the table below for specialisations across MSc along with their minimum eligibility criteria:

Candidates willing to take admission to the MBA programme at SASTRA University must fulfil the following requirements:

• The candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• For admission to the MBA programme at SASTRA University, candidates will have to fill out the online application form through SASTRA University official website by paying the required fee for final submission.
• Candidates will be shortlisted based on their scores in CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ AIMCAT
• Those who qualify will be required to report to the admission cell at SASTRA University for document verification and fee payment for final seat allotment.

SASTRA offers merit-based scholarships to meritorious and skilled students under the following categories:

• It awards merit scholarships to the students who fall in the top 3 to 10% of high scorers in their semester examinations. The students are offered one-fifth of the semester fee
• The top 3% scorers at the university are offered two-fifth of the semester fee

Candidate should have passed Class 12 with Maths Physics and Chemistry/ Bio-Technology/ Computer Science/ Biology as their subjects from any recognised Board with a minimum aggregate of 60%. The total course fee for the BTech course ranges between INR 4.7 lakhs to INR 7.7 lakhs. SASTRA University offers BTech across 23 specialisations along with integrated MTech across two specialisations. Spread over four years and eight semesters, admission to all these courses is subject to JEE Main scores for 70% of the seats and is subject to Class 12 scores for the remaining 30% of the seats.
