SASTRA University Admission 2026: Application Form, Last Date, Eligibility

The total tuition fee for BCA is INR 1.8 lakh at SASTRA University. Aspirants shortlisted for admission have to confirm their seat by paying the course fees. Candidates must pay the fees in the mode accepted by the university before the deadline.

SASTRA University offers courses at UG, PG and doctoral levels. The university offers courses across streams, such as Engineering, Management, Commerce, Law, Science, etc. at three campuses-Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Chennai. The popular courses of the university include BTech, MBA, BA LLB (Hons), etc.

Candidates can apply for UG courses at SASTRA University before the release of Class 12 result provided they score equal or above the minimum aggregate. Aspirants must be able to submit their score at the time of admission.

Candidate should not have completed 19 years as on August 1 of the admission year to apply at SASTRA University. Aspirants also need to meet the educational requirements i.e. Class 12 for UG and graduation for PG programmes.

SASTRA University gives 50% weightage to Class 12 scores and 50% to CLAT scores in Phase-II. In Phase-I, admission is entirely based on scores of the aspirants in CLAT. In case the applicant has not appeared for CLAT, weighted score for 50% will become 0 but the Class 12 aggregate will be given 50% weightage to get the combined score in Phase-II.

SASTRA University conducts an entrance exam for admission in MCA programme. The deemed-to-be university also considers graduation marks for final selection. Aspirants must pass a minimum of three-year bachelor's degree with Mathematics as a subject in Class 12 or qualifying degree to apply for MCA.

Candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme at SASTRA University should possess a bachelor’s degree in any discipline and should have a valid scores in CAT/ XAT/ CMAT/ AIMCAT. Candidates based on their scores in any one of the aforementioned exam will be shortlisted for the Personal Interview (PI) round. Those who qualify for the PI round will be required to report to the admission cell at SASTRA University for document verification and fee payment leading to final seat allotment.

With an AIR of 6800 and a Tamil Nadu Rank (TNR) of 1879 at SASTRA Deemed University, you have a decent chance of getting a seat in core engineering branches like Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, Chemical but top-tier choices like CSE or ECE will be difficult.

SASTRA Deemed University applies a 5% annual increase to the BTech tuition fee. The initial base tuition fee of INR 85,000 per semester escalates yearly starting from your second academic year. This recurring structure helps cover evolving laboratory upgrades, advanced engineering infrastructure, and institutional academic overheads

Candidates are allotted a seat during TANCET counselling based on the following reservation criteria:

• Open Competition (OC): 31%
• Backward Classes (BC): 26.5%
• Most Backward Class and Identified Communities: 20%
• SC (Arunthathiyar): 3%
• Scheduled Caste: 15%
• Scheduled Tribes: 1%
• Backward Class Muslims: 3.5%

Aspirants can apply without Mathematics for BTech in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Bioengineering courses at SASTRA University. Candidates also do not require Mathematics for Integrated M.Tech in Biotechnology and Medical Nanotechnology courses. For all other BTech specialisations, Mathematics is a compulsory subject.
