Your son has got a good score in CBSE boards. There are good chances to get a seat for mechatronics.
If he has not appeared for JEE Mains, then he needs to apply under stream 2. If appeared, then stream 1. If he has appeared for JEE Mains and then his chances of getting SASTRA University will be more.
In stream 1, 70% seats are filled and in stream 2, 30% seats are filled. Under stream 2, students with 95% and above will also appear. So, for mechanical there might be low chances but for mechatronics there are good chances.
The last date for applying is June 10th.

Hello,
70% seat are filled on the basis of class 12th marks. So, your score is not so good to get in Sastra University. So, you may try in any other college.

As you are a Brahmin, SASTRA University gives some preference to Brahmin students.
On June 10th (the last date to apply) they will release the rank list so you may check your possibility of getting the seat.

Yes, you can get but it depends on the trend too. If you also have a JEE score of 150+ consider yourself admitted.

Being a brahmin will not guarantee admission in Sastra as the admission is merit based. If you have a JEE score of above 120 you can get admitted in Sastra. Stream 2 is difficult for you.

Hello Aswath,
You really have a good cut off. You can easily get a seat at Sastra University and also PSG Coimbatore. If you belong to general (OC) category, then you have less chances to get your desired course in PSG. If you belong to some other category then you are sure to get admission and also for sure you can get the course you want.
To get PSG, you are advised to apply for counselling under Anna University at www.annauniv.edu
In Sastra University under stream 2(based on only board exam percentage).
30% seats are filled. So, your chances of getting a seat will be high. But, you may or may not get the top courses like CSE etc. but, if you apply under stream 1(JEE main score+ board exam score) you can get your desired course.
The website to apply is www.sastra.edu and the last date is June 10.
