VELS School of Maritime Studies offers a 4-Year (8 Semester) Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) course in Marine Engineering. The minimum eligibility criteria involve the following:A candidate must pass 10+2 or its equivalent Examinations with a minimum 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics groups.The candidate must have also secured at least 50% in English at the 10th or 12th Standard.The interested candidate must be of maximum 25 years of age on the date of commencement of the course. The candidate must also fulfill the medical standard. One should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms with minimum unaided vision in each eye to be 6/12, and with no colour blindness.Admission to B.E. in Marine Engineering is based on merit and also on the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying national-level examination, the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET) together with 10+2 marks.

To be admitted into any of the courses offered by VELS School of Maritime Studies, students must have passed the higher secondary or equivalent level examination with 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry from a recognized board of Education. In addition to this, they should have qualified IMUCET with a valid score. This can be done through either an online process, offline process, or direct contact mode.
