In order to pay the application fee for VELS University the candidates must pay the application fee of Rs. 1000 in online mode or Demand Draft in favour of “The Registrar, Vels University” payable at Chennai. Candidates need to appear for the university's VEL's Entrance Examination (VEE) for admission to various courses followed by a counselling process. And afterwards followed by the admission in their desired course.

The university offers various courses at UG, PG and PhD levels through various schools. The courses are offered in multiple streams like Engineering, Management, Science, Commerce, etc. BTech, MBA, BSc and MSc are the top courses offered by the university. Candidates must pass Class 12 for UG courses and graduation for PG courses. The university also have Diploma courses for candidates who have completed Class 10. The university conducts its own VELS Entrance Exam for admission to various UG and PG courses. VELS Entrance Exam is an offline test of 90 minutes conducted for aspirants who have not appeared for the required entrance exam. 

VEE, also known as VELS Entrance Exam is conducted every year by the VELS Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS) for providing admission to UG and PG courses. VEE exam is conducted in offline mode as a pen-paper based mode. The questions in entrance exam will have a total of 100 questions in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. The total duration of the exam will be 90 minutes. Candidates need to qualify for the VEE exam by securing the minimum marks to be eligible for admission to the institute.  Only qualified candidates of the VEE exam will be issued counselling letters. All such candidates will have to report to the institute to carry out the admission process.

Yes, BE and BTech are four-year courses divided into eight semesters. School of Engineering, School of Maritime Studies and School of Ocean Engineering offers BE in eight specialisations, namely Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, etc. BTech is available in four specialisations, namely IT (Cloud& Mobile Based Application Development)in Association with IBM, Biotechnology and Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. Candidates who have completed Class 12 in relevant subjects with at least 50%-60% aggregate as per the specialisation can apply for BE or BTech course. A relaxation of 5% in the aggregate score is provided to reserved category candidates.

 Yes, Vels Student Aptitude Test (VSAT)  offers the choice of education to students. On average, nearly 10,000 students from all over India competes to avail themselves of the scholarship. The test duration is 45 minutes and it follows the pattern of Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal and Logical questions. Based on the secured percentage, the scholarship is offered in a range from 10% to 75% waiver in fees. Students with exemplary marks are given full fee concession for the entire course period. Apart from this, the university also offers Merit Scholarship, First Graduate Scholarship, Artist Associations Scholarship, etc.

The university conducts VELS Entrance Exam for providing admission to MBA course. Besides, candidates who have passed CAT, XAT or MAT can also apply for the MBA course. VEE is an offline test of 90 minutes duration. The selected candidates based on VEE or other national-level entrance exam score are called for counselling and document verification round. Candidates need to submit the documents verififying their eligibility during the counselling round for final selection in the university.
