School of Engineering, School of Maritime Studies and School of Ocean Engineering offers BE in eight specialisations, namely Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Electrical & Electronics, Mechanical, etc. BTech is available in four specialisations, namely IT (Cloud& Mobile Based Application Development)in Association with IBM, Biotechnology and Naval Architecture, Offshore Engineering and Petroleum Engineering. Candidates who have completed Class 12 in relevant subjects with at least 50%-60% aggregate as per the specialisation can apply for BE or BTech course. A relaxation of 5% in the aggregate score is provided to reserved category candidates.

 Yes, Vels Student Aptitude Test (VSAT)  offers the choice of education to students. On average, nearly 10,000 students from all over India competes to avail themselves of the scholarship. The test duration is 45 minutes and it follows the pattern of Quantitative Aptitude, Verbal and Logical questions. Based on the secured percentage, the scholarship is offered in a range from 10% to 75% waiver in fees. Students with exemplary marks are given full fee concession for the entire course period. Apart from this, the university also offers Merit Scholarship, First Graduate Scholarship, Artist Associations Scholarship, etc.

Admission to BSc course is based on merit in the last qualifying exam. The selected candidates based on the merit are called for counselling and document verification round. Candidates need to pay a course fee to confirm their seat in the university. The total tuition fee for BSc ranges between INR 21,000 and INR 26.40 Lacs as per an unofficial source.
