Rank upto 9000 will land you with CSE in VIT, Vellore and upto 12000 in VIT Chennai in first category. Otherwise you can pay more and get in 2nd category. You should get a score approximately 90 marks to definitely get CSE branch at VIT Vellore. Although, it will depend on the overall performance by the students.

Hi, as per question, there is no chance for you to get CSE/IT/ ECE in categories 2or 3. Because VIT Vellore campus as tough competition for CSE branch below 3000 rank can get it and the 5000 or above rank can get Chennai campus in category 1. you can try other branches like civil EEE you may get it in category 2 or 3.

For admissions in any of the VIT universities you have to qualify VITEE. I got a 9000 rank in VITEE and had recently gone through the counseling process thus I have done a bit of research for the cutoffs. Yes you will get CSE and IT in category 1 or 2 in Chennai and CAT 2 or 3 in Vellore. Departments like mechanical are even easier, so do not worry much. Do not pay attention to academic counselors they just spam the answers with their telephone numbers and dirty tricks.
