If you are looking for a B.Sc Agriculture programme, VIT is indeed the best option.

Biotechnology: As a minimum criterion of eligibility, aspiring candidates are needed to have attained a Bachelor's degree in any of Physics, Biological Sciences, BAMS, BHMS, BPT and any other related discipline, with a minimum aggregate score of 50%.

There are nearly 500 students in this course I think 90 percent of students were placed. The salary package starts at 3 lacs to 20 lacs. Many companies come to vit university like Google, HP, TCS, IBM.

For civil engineering, VIT is good in terms of placement, but if you want to choose SRM it is also having a good academic exposure and nice teaching environment.
