Hi Swapnil,
VIT mechanical engineering department is one of the very good departments. As far as placements are concerned I would like to share an experience of my roommates. Two years back, two M.Tech. 2nd year students were my roommates. I remember that they had sat for an interview of at least 5-6 companies in front of me. Also, there were some more companies for which their profile wasn't suitable.
So, VIT gets many companies for M.Tech students as well. Many students get placed. As I'm from chemical engineering department, I can not tell you the exact number of placed students, but yes - placements are not so bad (as compared to other mtech people)!

Admission to VIT is conducted on a merit basis through it's own online entrance exam, called the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination VITEEE and through management quota also. they introduced categories depends on your cut-off marks. Say, cut-off 15000 rank- 1st category youshould pursue cse and it branch and 2nd category like that. So fee varies for each category. They introduced CAL system and increased their standard. The answer is yes, it is little hard than before but if you can get under 90000 rank in VIT entrance exam u can get admission in VIT in 6TH category
But if u r interested in cse or any other branch you should pay more in any category but condition is that your vitee rankshould be less than 90000. Various other branches are there like cs,it,ece, mechanical etc. but according to me take cse should be first option then it than ece or whatever you like you can take that branch.

No need to have good marks. Placements only depend on your skills and knowledge like you are a good programmer then only you will get hired. Suppose, you don't like programming, but you are perfect in networking or designing field, you will get a job easily. In earlier days, the network engineering had a good demand in the market so take your choice and go ahead.

Dream company means it offers more than 10 lakhs per annum, and super dream company means it offers 30 lakhs per annum. If you want to get a job in super dream company, then you have to maintain CGPA 9 in every semester. If you are study minded student then u will definitely grab dream company at least. Hope this helps.

Hello Abhirami,
VITEEE is an engineering entrance exam which is for only engineering courses. For integrated M.Sc biotechnology course, there is no entrance exam and the admission is based on board exam marks.
