The hostel fee depends upon the NIT you are interested to join in or are studying in. It differs from institute to institute. However, there might be fee waivers. The hostel fee includes the caution and furniture deposit, the room rent, mess charge, water charge, electricity charge, etc. It all depends upon the NIT. Yes, you can pursue your M.Tech degree in engineering physics after completing your B.Tech programme from NIT, Calicut but for that you have to sit for GATE to get admission in any IITs. Top IITs providing M.Tech in engineering physics are:-
1. IIT, Bombay.
2. IIT, Madras.
3. IIT, Guwahati.
4. IIT, Delhi.
5. IIT, Hyderabad.
You must check the respective cut-offs for the IITs offering M.Tech in engineering physics through GATE.

Yes, you can get, but you have to wait for the last round of the counselling, as in the first round you might not get that, as in the first round student try to find for the best and hence they block 2-4 seats in best institute but till the last round they are confirmed that they have to go in that particular college so all other seat left vacant and then lower rank students get that.

Hi Dinesh, Congrats as you scored good marks in JEE paper 2 but unfortunately closing rank in these both NITs is 1138 at round 3 and round 6 respectively. So there is less chance to get seat in these but don't loose hope. You may also get seat here if your luck helps you. Remember to stay in contact with both colleges for more details. Thanks.

JEE Mains serves as the entrance exam for the various B.Tech/B.E programmes of NITs,IIITs and CFTIs and as the preliminary exam for the IITs. You can get into NIT's if you have qualified the JEE Mains exam. So, if you have qualified JEE Mains and secured a good or decent rank, you can get admission into our college.

One may find NITs attractive due to their NIT tag, but frankly speaking, all NITs don't stand up to that reputation. For people who have no or little idea about IIITs, I would like to tell them that the 4 IIITs (Allahabad, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Kancheepuram) are institutes of National Importance, just like any other NIT, and focus on the field of Information Technology exclusively (unlike NITs). Moreover, IIIT Jabalpur has an upper hand over the above NITs as it has a collaboration with universities of Japan. So I would suggest going with the following preference: IIIT Jabalpur, then NIT Jalandhar, then NIT Raipur.

IIEST Shibpur Mechanical is ranked at 7th above IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU and BITS Pilani by Edu-Rand a Highly Reputed Indo - American Ranking organization. MHRD / NIRF Ranked IIEST at 7th by Research Parameter At Par with IIT Roorkee - just after six old IITs, but above all other IITs and above all the NITs in the Country. Overall, IIEST Ranked at 20 by MHRD / NIRF above many IITs and Above All NITs except three. Mechanical Engineering in IIEST Shibpur is surely one of the Best Departments in India and definitely better than NIT Allahabad or NIT Culicut by any measure. The placement of the mechanical branch is quite good at NIT Rourkela. Core companies like Tata steel, Vedanta, Tata motors, Maruti - Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and many more visit our campus every year and recruit meritorious students as Graduate engineer Trainees. Sometimes PSUs also come NIT Rourkela because it is one of the top NITs. Fortunately last year Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) also come for recruitments. Average package of Core Company is more than 8 LPA. Any of the two institute you choose you will be befitted for sure.
