All the three of them is good, but you have to choose one of them. IIEST Shibpur Mechanical is ranked at 7th above IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU and BITS Pilani by Edu-Rand a Highly Reputed Indo - American Ranking organization. MHRD / NIRF Ranked IIEST at 7th by Research Parameter At Par with IIT Roorkee - just after six old IITs, but above all other IITs and above all the NITs in the Country. Overall, IIEST Ranked at 20 by MHRD / NIRF above many IITs and Above All NITs except three. Mechanical Engineering in IIEST Shibpur is surely one of the Best Departments in India and definitely better than NIT Allahabad or NIT Culicut by any measure. IIEST has Glorious Record of Producing Brilliant Engineers serving across the Globe and many of them are World Leaders in Engineering in USA / UK / Canada as well as in India. The placement of the mechanical branch is quite good at NIT Rourkela. Core companies like Tata steel, Vedanta, Tata motors, Maruti - Suzuki, Mahindra & Mahindra and many more visit our campus every year and recruit meritorious students as Graduate engineer Trainees. Sometimes PSUs also come NIT Rourkela because it is one of the top NITs. Fortunately last year Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) also come for recruitments. Average package of Core Company is more than 8 LPA. Any of the two institute you choose you will be befitted for sure. I would suggest you for NIT Rourkela or IIEST shibpur where ever you are comfortable as it holds good placement record and better future. All the best for your future. Thank you.

Hello Karthik, Aah! You are in a typical Shakespearean dilemma! Calicut as well as Nagpur, both NIT' s have quite good reputation. Therefore I would like to advise you that you can take admission in the NIT which is convenient to access and commute from your home.

Actually, there is nothing like better and best. It all depends on your interests and personality. Basically, IT is mostly related to computers, and it also has some basics in ECE. If you want to pursue a good career in the coding and software fields, you can choose IT. ECE is a subjective branch where you can learn a lot about devices and their functionalities. So, if you take your decision from a college perspective, I would prefer ECE at NIT-Calicut, as it is a premier institution and one of the top NITs. As I mentioned above, if you want to excel in the software field, IT at IIITM-Gwalior is better. You can get a lot of knowledge from seniors and from various clubs here.

Assuming you are from general category you need atleast 175+ marks to get a better seat in core and technical branches. Your board percentage will only lend you through the eligibility and the marks for Mains through the counseling. Try for other autonomous colleges to seek a better branch. Best of luck.
