You are eligible to join IAF through NDA exam if you have opted the subjects physics and maths in 12. The exam is conducted twice a year. And, they invite applications around June and September every year. Check the website upscale for more details. If you are selected, you have three years of training in NDA along with people who would be going to army and navy too. After this, you get a B.Sc or B.A. Degree based on what you studied there. Then another one year training in IAF and then you would be commissioned as an officer in the flying branch of IAF.

Hi Shraddha!
Indian Air Force is the most sought-after service among women. Even though Air Force has only two women entries, IAF has the highest number of women officers as compared to Navy and Army. You can join Indian Air force through 2 ways; AFCAT and Non-AFCAT entries. AFCAT- This exam is held twice in a year. It is a written exam and those who qualify in this exam are called for SSB interview. You can opt for Flying branch, technical branch and ground duty by AFCAT exam. Non-AFCAT Entry (Meteorological Branch)- In this entry, candidates are short-listed and called for SSB interviews at Air Force Selection Boards. Age group in thi

Hi Adarsh,
You can apply through CDSE entry. CDSE is an exam conducted by UPSC twice, every year. The training is conducted in AFA, and then the candidate is moved to the specialized flying training establishment. This entry too is meant for all the three forces, just like NDA. The exam consists three papers consisting of General awareness, English and Mathematics. A Graduate (Three Year Course), in any discipline from a recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level) / BE / B Tech (Four Year Course) is eligible for the exam.

Hello Veda,
There are different ways of joining IAF. But joining it does not mean that you will become an aeronautical engineer. You can also appear for the NDA entrance exam conducted by UPSC. After graduation, you can appear for CDS exam conducted by UPSC. And if you are already an engineer, then you can join an engineering branch of IAF.

Hi Komal!
You can apply for Indian Air force after completing 10+2 with Physics and Maths through NDA exam. This is the first opportunity through which you get to join the Air Force. You need to appear for a Written exam followed by SSB. The exam happens twice a year.
Other way to get into Air force is by completing your graduation and appearing for exams like CDSE, NCC Special entry, University Entry Scheme and AFCAT.
