EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION REQUIRED TO JOIN IAF AS A FLYING OFFICER:
Candidate should have passed 10+2 with subjects- Physics and Mathematics subjects. Students who are studying in 12th standard may also appear for the exam, given that they satisfy the minimum age limit criteria. Also, such candidates who are in studying in 12th and want to appear for the exam must also make sure that their schooling will be over by the time the course starts at NDA. HOW AND WHEN TO APPLY? This examination is held by UPSC twice a year. Usually, the advertisements are put up on May and December each year. You may make use of the following sites- UPSC. Gov. In and upsconline. Nic. In. The registration process has been made online now. After clearing the NDA written exam and the SSB interview, recommended candidates will have to appear for PABT (Pilot Aptitude Battery Test). PABT test is once in a lifetime test and is meant to check whether a candidate has the potential to become a good pilot or not. Those who clear PABT are then sent for medical examinations. In case of Air Force candidates, medical examination will be thorough. Air Force demands much more, in terms of physical and medical requirements, when compared to other wings of the Armed Forces. On successfully completing the 3 year course at NDA, the Air Force cadets are sent to Air Force Academy, Hyderabad, for further training that lasts 1 year. It is after successfully completing this training that they are commissioned as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force. Regards.

Can I get entry in Indian army or AIR force after 10th? Yes, you can join Indian army or Air force after completing Matriculation. But the position you will be offered with a matriculation qualification will be lower as in a helping person, cook, mechanic, guards, soldier. If you study for two more years with the subjects PCM and score well. You can apply for NDA passing which you will be admitted to Indian Military Academy. If you graduate from IMA, you will become an Officer in the Prestigious Forces. There are certain eligibility criteria regarding the candidate's age, Subjects in higher secondary, Marks obtained. Make sure you fulfill the eligibility criteria. Joining any of the forces in India is a far better choice than having no interest in engineering and simply going for engineering after 12th just because all your friends have chosen this career. Indian Air Force is the most sought-after service among women. Even though Air Force has only two women entries, IAF has the highest number of women officers as compared to Navy and Army. You can join Indian Air force through 2 ways; AFCAT and Non-AFCAT entries. AFCAT- This exam is held twice in a year. It is a written exam and those who qualify in this exam are called for SSB interview. You can opt for Flying branch, technical branch and ground duty by AFCAT exam. Non-AFCAT Entry (Meteorological Branch)- In this entry, candidates are short-listed and called for SSB interviews at Air Force Selection Boards. Age group in this entry is 20 to 25 years and 27 years for Ph.D. candidates. To be eligible for this entry candidates must be having a Post graduate degree in any Science stream / Maths / Statistics / Geography / CS / EVS / Physics / Geo-physics etc. With minimum 50% aggregate and have scores 55% marks both in Maths and Physics at graduation level. Final year students can also apply for it.

You can join NDA by taking the exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This exam is conducted twice a year in all major cities throughout India. Eligibility Criteria

NDA is the only option after 12th to join Indian Ari Force, however, if you do your graduation or Engineering, many opportunities come your way. CDSE Entry: - If in case you were wise and didn't opt for engineering and instead got into B.Sc. course, or another corresponding course, you can give CDS Exam, again conducted by UPSC twice a year. Kindly note, even engineers can apply through CDS Entry, actually, they can apply everywhere. :P
AFCAT Air Force Common Admission Test. oFor all entries other than CDSE and for all branches, candidates have to undergo the AFCAT. - the test is conducted twice a year in February and August. - Advertisements inviting applications for AFCAT are out in June and December. Candidates are to apply as per the advertisement. - The test is conducted all across India by the Indian Air Force
