No. The dMAT is simply an additional requirement integrated into the APS process. You still need to go through the standard APS document verification. Your dMAT results will simply be included on your final APS certificate.

Your dMAT score appears on your APS certificate but it does not determine whether your APS application is processed. Furthermore, universities decide individually how (or if) they weigh the dMAT score, so a low score does not automatically result in an outright rejection.

The APS certificate is completely mandatory for every single Indian student applying to Germany. It is a document issued by the German Embassy's Academic Evaluation Centre in New Delhi to verify that your Indian school and college certificates are authentic. You cannot secure a German university admission letter or a student visa without obtaining this document first.

No. If you successfully completed your APS online registration, shipped your physical documents to Delhi, or received your APS certificate before June 29, 2026. You are exempt from the dMAT exam. The rule only applies to new applications initiated on or after June 29.

Yes, APS Certificate is an important part of the entry requirement at Heidelberg University, there is no way to clear the entry requirement without APS certificate. It is a non-negotiable for countries like India, Vietnam and China. APS certificate basically is to verify the academic background of the students. It is issued by German embassy.

No. Indian students who want to take admission to the University of Cologne have to submit APS Certificate. This is a mandatory condition. Only after submitting the APS certificate, admission is possible to the Uni of Cologne. For admission to the UG courses of this university, Indian students are also required to appear for Test for Academic Studies (TestAS).

Yes, Indian students who want to study at Mannheim University have to submit an APS certificate. Digitally signed APS certificate has to be submitted together with othet documents required for studies at the Uni of Mannheim. Along with the education transcripts, students are required to submit their evidence of language proficiency score, be it German or English.

Yes, the APS certificate is mandatory for almost all Indian students applying for a German student visa. Any candidates willing to apply for German taught courses have to apply for APS.
