If it is DU, there will be not be any entrance test conducted for English Hons. The admission is totally merit-based.

I think there is no entrance test conducted in DU for English Hons. You get admission on the basis of your marks in 12th class. However, if you are aiming for some top colleges, you need to have atleast 95% to be assured a seat. Most top colleges close admission at this percentage. Also while calculating percentage you need to take into account best of four subjects which should include your marks in English too. Physical Education is not counted as a subject while calculating. Hope this helps.

You can try for Jadavpur University, a very good institution for language study. And if I talk about colleges in proper Kolkata, I would say St. Xavier's College (autonomous), Scottish Church College and Presidency College. These are the premium institutes.
hope this helps.

I think it's better to opt for a PG course. But if your English is fluent, you may try to any MNC or go for Diploma in education for teaching line.

Best four subjects are arranged in high to low weightage and whatsoever is the last subject. Doesn't include in the best four. And English is compulsory in best four. The admission is merit based in DU so your % of best four must be ranges between 85-98%.
hope this helps.
