If you wanna pursue career in public services, BA L.LB is the best thing to do.

Law of Torts by RK Bangia or in case you are comfortable reading a slightly complicated book go for Law of Torts by Ratanlal and Dhirajlal, commonly called R&D.
2. Law of Contracts- A commentary by Polluck and Mullah is advisable or a viable option could be Law of Contracts by Avtar Singh
3. Criminal Law I - PSA Pillai
For Legal English, you no book is prescribed, go with the course module (if your college provides one).

In terms of age, NLU has withdrawn the age eligibility criteria for AILET 2017. You may have to wait for AILET 2018 admission notice to check eligibility. As per my understanding, you will be eligible to appear for AILET.

R.C. Vermani and Political Theory by V.D. Mahajan are the books you can refer.

You can do LLM if you want to enhance your legal career ahead or for for an MBA. It depends on what you want to do in future so decide accordingly.MS Courses in specific areas like labour laws, human rights, cyber laws etc can also be done.

I would recommend Presidency University to pursue BA LLB as the university is keen in educating students in this field.
Also, they have a well planned educational system.
