NIFT Mumbai has not so good placements. Only a few students i.e. 10 percent get campus placements. The rest try for off-campus placements or start their own venture. Calvin Klein, Tanishq, Godrej, Infosys, Marks and Spencer, Pantaloon, Raymond, Reliance Retail, Spykar are some of the recruiting companies that visit for placements.

NIFT doesn't usually have fixed cutoff marks for admissions. Admission is based on the NIFT Entrance Exam (GAT and CAT) scores, which determine your rank among all the candidates who took the exam. The cutoff varies each year depending on factors like the number of applicants, difficulty level of the exam, and available seats. Typically, a higher rank increases your chances of securing a seat at NIFT Mumbai or any other NIFT campus for the B.Des program.

Approximately 100 students per batch will be admitted to B.Des programmes across all specialisations. It's less evident what specific B.Des specializations—like fashion design, interior design, or animation and visual effects—entail. No particular seat number for each programme is mentioned on the official website. For every B.Des course, there are between 20 to 30 seats available.
