NIFT Kannur Highlights 2025
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kannur is a government institute that was established in 2008 and was shifted to its permanent campus in 2012. The infrastructure of NIFT Kannur, comprises a building of eight floors given by the State Government of Kerala. Due to this, the design school offers 20% supernumerary seats for candidates with the state domicile of Kerala. The institute offers BDes and BFTech at UG level, MDes and MFM at PG level and Continuing Education Programme (CEP) Programmes in various specialisations including Photo Journalism, Basic Calligraphy, Home Furnishing Production & Fashion Technology, Fashion Fundamentals and Apparel Export Merchandising and Apparel Costing across Design and Technology streams.
The institute has been ranked 16 for Fashion Design by Outlook in 2019. Currently, NIFT has 18 campuses spread across the country, namely NIFT Delhi, NIFT Bengaluru, NIFT Chennai, NIFT Gandhinagar, NIFT Hyderabad and NIFT Kolkata, among others. The admission is based on the national-level entrance examination conducted by NIFT called NIFT Entrance Exam. The college has an auditorium with a seating capacity of 400 people. NIFT Kannur offers hostel facility on-campus for female students only.

NIFT Cutoff 2025 has been released for Round 5 for various categories. During the Round 5 cutoff, the closing ranks ranged between 226 and 2374 wherein BDes in Fashion Communication turned out as the toughest course to get into National Institute of Fashion Technology, Kannur for the students belonging to the General AI category students. Students need to secure a valid score in order to confirm their admission at the institute.
NIFT is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The exam is conducted once every year and it consist of two parts, i.e, first one is, written exam and second is, situation test/personal interview.
- Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only BDes and MDes candidates need to take the CAT.
- Situation Test/ Personal Interview - BDes candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is BFTech program, where the admission merit list will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.
The FINAL score of NIFT 2024 for the other programs will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
The scores or merit rank of NIFT will be considered for admission to design courses offered by the NIFT participating institutes. Currently, there are 18 participating institutes that offer the following courses - BDes, MDes, BFTech, MFTech, and MFM courses.
The National Instituite of Fashion Technology will release the NIFT 2026 at the time of seat allotment and counseling.
The cut-offs will be available institute and category-wise for all the program at nift.admissions.nic.in.
The cut-offs will be prepared by considering factors like the seat intake, the merit rank of candidates, admission category, etc. Note that if the seat intake is increase the cut-off would likely go down and vice versa.

NIFT Kannur is a government institute. It has a great infrastructure and is equipped with great facilities, well-equipped design studios, a well-stocked library, computer labs etc. Like other NIFT campuses, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs and addmission to these programs is based on marks scored in NIFT Entrance Exam. The entrance exam is further divided into three parts, i.e., Creative Ability Test (CAT), General Ability Test (GAT) and Situation Test/ Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GD and PI) round.

- Click on “NIFT 2023 Results”.
- Enter NIFT Roll number, Date of Birth, and Application number.

- One self-attested passport size photograph with signature
- Income declaration-affidavit (Format- B) on non-judicial stamp paper of 10 (Rupees Ten) by each parent.

NIFT Kannur offers BDes and BFTech at UG level and MDes and MFM at PG level. The duration of UG programmes - BDes and BFTech offered by NIFT Kannur is four years. For PG programme - MFM and MDes the duration is two years.
