Yes, having a pure Science background is typically the required qualification for B.Tech programs in CSE (Computer Science Engineering) and IT (Information Technology). However, you need to have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in your 12th standard to be eligible. While some private institutions might have alternative eligibility criteria, the general rule is that you need PCM in 12th to be eligible for B.Tech in CSE or IT.

You should start your exam preparation as early as possible to have enough time for revision and covering all the sections of the exam syllabus that can increase your overall chances of getting excellent marks in the exam and getting shortlisted for admission. You must start preparing at least 6 to 8 months before the final exam for BTech IT is scheduled to take place.

Most of the top-ranked colleges in India give admission to BTech IT on the basis of relevant entrance exam scores. You need to appear for exams like JEE Main, MHT CET, KCET, etc., and get excellent marks in the same to grab a seat at a popular college.
Having said that, there are more than 400 BTech Information Technology colleges in India that give admission considering the Class 12 board exam marks. A few colleges may also give 50-50 weightage to both the factors.
