Anna University is one of the best colleges for engineering in India.
It is known for old and architectural infrastructure faculty with great experience and knowledge facilities provided by it like sports complex, Wi-Fi and labs are well equipped by the instruments and machines.

IIT, Varanasi is among the top 6 public sector engineering colleges in India and has great reputation for its excellence in placements and faculty for all the different branches of undergraduate programs that they carry out.
This question is a little more complex to answer because of the fact that you have not mentioned any of the branches for departments in particular that you want to know the status of placements for hence I would consider all branches at an overall to answer this question.

K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering is an autonomous engineering institute situated in Mumbai:

For computer science engineering 182 offers were bagged by the students in 2016-17.
The minimum salary offered was around 2LPA while the average salary was between 3 - 4.5 LPA. The maximum salary offered was around 10 LPA (across all branches).
Companies like Barclays, Accolite, Morgan Stanley and Infosys recruit from K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering.
So the overall placement scenario was average at K. J. Somaiya.

Birsa Institute of technology is best engineering college of Dhanbad after IIT, Dhanbad. Admission in BIT Sindri is done through JCECE. The Institute is very old and is located in Sindri town which is 20 kilometers away from Dhanbad. The university is affiliated to Vinoba Bhave Univesity, Hazaribag. The institute has very good Placement for all the branches. Computer science engineering department of BIT, Sindri is not as good as the other branches there. Even the metallurgy department is far better than CSE department of BIT, Sindri. That is why cut-off for CSE goes down.

NITs are the premier engineering institutes in India. NIT Calicut is one these NITs and is pretty well known all over India. According to the National Institute ranking framework it stands at 44th rank among all the engineering colleges in India.
For Chemical Engineering out of 70 students who enrolled for placements only 38 were placed. Minimum salary offered was 4.5 LPA while the average salary offered was 7.4 LPA. Maximum package offered was 12.5 LPA. So the placements for chemical were decent at NIT Calicut.

For engineering physics out of 12 students who enrolled for placements only 2 were placed. One got a salary of 4.5 LPA and other got a salary of 4.2 LPA making the average salary 4.35 LPA as such. You should know that Engineering physics is mainly a research based branch so placements are ought to be less as compared to other branches.

Placements were fine, means at least 90% of the seniors got placed. The lowest salary was 4 lakhs and the maximum was 18 lakhs. Companies like IBM, Microsoft, Infosys and Wipro came. This year, 30 to 40% got internships were from the college itself. The stipend was offered from a minimum of 1,000 to maximum of 5,000. The college offers a placement rate of 99%. TCS, Wipro, CTS etc., but around 10 to 12 people got placed in core companies like IBM, Amazon etc. The packages vary from company to company and most students got around 3.5 to 4.5 LPA. If you manage to get placed in core companies, the packages offered are around 12 to 16 LPA.
