B.Tech Placement

Hi,
I'm assuming that you're already a Biotech student at NSIT. So, the option of switching to COE/IT or related courses is out of reach.
Do biotech students get time for other activities?
Well, that's up to you. No engineering course is so intense that will keep you engaged all the time. The amount of time you can take out for other activities (e.g. programming, at it seems, in your case) is completely in your hands.
A major portion of students get placed in software related profiles (irrespective of their branch). That is good enough indicator of the coding atmosphere in NSIT. There are a number of platforms through which you can enhance your programming skills:
1) Periodic sessions conducted by societies like IEEE, CSI, etc.
2) Facebook groups
3) On the personal front, use challenges at Codechef, SPOJ, etc.
Other than this, you can obviously get in touch with your peers and seniors for guidance.
I don't have enough information to compare between the coding environment of DTU and NSIT.
Regarding NSIT's placement for Biotech in COE/IT related profiles, I suggest you get in touch with your 4th-year biotech seniors and/or students at Placecomm.

Average package of COE branch of NSIT 2016 batch was around 14lacs.
Advice:- Don't look on average package, always ask for median package. Because average package can fool you, because if a person was selected in Google or Facebook or any other company having a big package that would increase the average by a huge amount(for example a student placed in Facebook with a package of 1 crore would drastically increase average package). On the other hand median is the package of the student who was in middle when students are arranged in decreasing/increasing order of package offered to him/her. So this will be a great help for you guys to understand actual stats of placements more clearly.
NSIT is a tier 1 college ,but that doesn't mean it would be having its average package high only few students gets the brilliant package as last year approx 8 student got the package of 1.25cr but they were religious in there studies ,so it totally depends upon your hard work.
Average is a wrong criteria to judge placents. But anyways this year it has been very high owing to 7 google,mtv placements. These have bulked up the average package by around 4.5 lakhs. So the average package for coe should be 12-13 lpa considering this.

Production and Industrial Engineering is a very good field of engineering and IIT-Delhi is among the top IITs.
Talking about the placements of PI Engineering at IIT-Delhi, it is almost 100%.
The average package of PI Engineering at IIT-Delhi is around 6 to 9 LPA.
Many multinational companies visit here and offer a good package to quality engineers.
Companies like Reliance Industries, PepsiCo, Glenmark, Wipro, Asian Paints, Sun pharma, Dr.Reddy's, Zydus Wellness, Cadila Pharma, Adani Group, HPCL, BPCL, Lodha Group, Paytm, Ashok Leyland, Tata, GM, CAT, TVS, Geometric, Shell, Fluent, Ashok Leyland, Hero Moto Corp, Bosch group, Honda and Mercedes recruit students.
Since PI Branch is an evergreen branch, the placement ratio of PI branch will also increase in future with a good amount of packages by the companies.
Talking about the IITs, all IITs placement ratio will also increase or the packages will increase because IITs are the topmost engineering institutes worldwide, so many companies will take part in campus placement at IITs for quality engineers.
So, the placement ratio of production and Industrial engineering branch of IIT-Delhi is almost 100% and will remain like with better packages.
Many large scale industries require a good amount of production and industrial engineering in their companies and they are offering very good amount to these engineers.

Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary branch of science which is favorite among youngsters as it is providing ample opportunities for those who want to explore the new and advanced frontiers of science. It does not refer to a specific industry or job. The applications of Biotechnology is broad as it feeds to various industrial sectors like food, textiles, pharmaceutical, agriculture, animal husbandry and more.
Biotechnology includes several subjects apart from biology making it interdisciplinary. Along with the scientific part and engineering applications, biotechnology is giving rise to various new fields with humongous job opportunities. Being honest, let me tell you, the placements from biotechnology are not that good when compared to other branches. Biotechnology is the future, it is still developing whereas other branches are centuries old and well established. But if you are up for it, go for it.
And IIT Roorkee is one of the best IITs. There is no scope of mediocrity here, the institute invites the best players from the industrial world to get their students placed. Around 76% students get placed from the batch. The average package is about 6 lac per annum. But don't worry, it increases o0nce you in the room. If you are looking for more money, then go for non-core jobs.

Heritage Institute of Technology situated in Kolkata is a private institute taking the students for engineering stream.
Though the college is not so much remarkable and up to the mark when it comes to infrastructure but is improving itself and hence can be considered as okay.
Now, coming to the placement stats, the average placement from here is around 3 to 4 lakh and highest package offered is from Microsoft which is around 16 lakhs.
Although, the above placement data is from CSE, ECE, IT, etc.
Also, frankly speaking, the college do not have a good placement record other than these three branch though, many IT based companies visit for mass recruitment such as TCS, Infosys as well as Wipro.
Also, the faculty members are good, but not up to the level to meet the requirements of industry as well as modern world.
So, in all, the college is good for the core branches only, and should not, be preferred for distance education. Although, students from West Bengal can have it as their last option but for the three mentioned branches.

VNIT-Nagpur invites various public and private sector organizations for campus recruitment of final year students. During the academic year 2016-17, more than 100 companies visited the campus. These included all the major companies like Morgan Stanley, L & T Group, Bajaj Auto, Qualcomm India Pvt Ltd, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Hyundai Mobis, John Deere, AVAYA India, Godrej Industries, Vedanta Ltd; Hindalco, Ashok Leyland, Amazon, Citicorp Finance India Ltd., JP Morgan, ABB, and many more. Harcourt Butler Technical University, also known as HBTU is among good universities in Kanpur. CSE is one of the finest branch here. A lot of good companies visit the campus for recruitment. Some of the companies are ACCENTURE, Adobe, Amazon, IBM, Idea Cellular Services. Infosys, ITC, etc. The average package is around Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakhs per annum. The faculties here are quite good. Some are highly qualified and some are experienced. The highest package is around Rs 8 to Rs 10 lakhs per annum. The students are good here and the atmosphere inside the campus is apt. Here, the students get each and every facility. The infrastructure is really good. This is all about the scenario of B.Tech in CSE in Harcourt Butler Technical University.
