There are about 60+ Engineering colleges in Kolkata. Of these, 50 are private colleges, 12 are government colleges, and public-private own 1 Engineering college. WBJEE and JEE Main are the most accepting entrance tests for the top Engineering colleges in Kolkata. SIRT has an excellent placement record. In 2022, 70% of students from the Sagar Institute of Research and Technology (SIRT) in Bhopal were placed. The highest package was INR 23 LPA, the lowest was INR 2.8 LPA, and the average package was around INR 4.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies like TCS, Cognizant, Wipro, Hexaware, NewVision Software, etc., visit the campus for placements.

Passed through 12th standard or comparable assessment with Physical science, and Arithmetic as necessary subjects. Obtained a minimum of 45 percent (40 percent for the SC/ST/PWD category) in each of the aforementioned subjects.
Entrance exams:
Maharashtra Normal Entry Test (MHT CET): Expected for 80% of the seats.
