Hello Ismail, it's nice to hear that you are son wants to get admission in an engineering college after passing his entrance examination conducted by the state of Andhra Pradesh. Let me tell you something. As per the press release by human resource development ministry of the government of India almost 50% of the fresh engineering graduates could not get jobs last year. This is a very serious issue. Many students do not get job after completion of engineering and then they struggle. Your son has got less than 60% in the qualifying examination. Hence I would request you to interact with him or was teachers and get to know as to which subjects he likes the most since it is better to do graduation in that subject rather than going for engineering and after 4 years stare at a no job situation. Hello Ram Chauhan, if I may say so you are a bit confused perhaps. We normally use the word lateral admission when a student who has completed his Diploma in engineering is seeking admission directly into second year of four year degree course of engineering. But you are already doing your engineering from college and interested in changing you are college. Right? Frankly speaking it's very tough to do this. Theoretically it is possible to do this when the college in which you want to go belongs to the same university and the same branch you want to take admission. However if you had taken admission in a private engineering college then they will be very loath to let you go since they will be losing a paying student and they will not know whether a new student will come in your place or not and they will end up losing that much of revenue. Hence if the conditions are not very bad I would recommend you to continue in the same college. If you are only in the first year then you must attempt the entrance exam once again hoping to get better marks and a better college in the admission process in the New year. Best wishes to you.

Hello Aishwarya, it's nice to know that you have completed your Diploma in electrical engineering. Your desire of completion of your graduation in engineering from the open university of IGNOU via distance education is fraught with danger. This is so because many times in the past AICTE as well as a Supreme Court of India have declared professional courses like engineering as not valid via distance education. My sincere advice to you would be do not think of doing graduation in engineering via distance mode. If the place where you must be working has a part time college offering engineering then you can think of it. Alternatively you have the option of completing AMIE. This is equivalent to graduation in engineering for all practical purposes including promotions for getting a government job or thinking of doing post graduation in engineering also.
