With Commerce and without Maths background, you will find it difficult to get admission in BCA in majority of Universities. IGNOU allows non-Maths students to seek admission in BCA. They have to do additional Maths paper beside BCA syllabus. Your decision to do BCA from IGNOU is good. You are advised to plan education upto minimum MCA for good career.

With BCA you can only get a job in small IT firms at a junior level. MCA is the most accepted degree in the Indian IT industry. You are advised to do MCA from a prestigious college with good placement records for a meaningful IT career.

If you are working in corporate (business enterprise) after M.Com and you job does not require programming then BCA will be an overkill. You may do short computer courses in office automation. If you have requirement of programming and higher skills in computer science then you may do BCA by distance learning.

In majority of universities the eligibility criteria for admission in BCA is maths as a subject in 12th. Therefore, students are expected to have basic maths and statistics understanding to pursue BCA. Students without maths in 12th may face few challenges. Such students may have to work extra to score well in maths and statistics papers in BCA degree course. But, it is do-able.
