With a 71.8% in CBSE, joining Chandigarh University can be a good option as the university provides ease in the admission process through CUCET and both the marks in the entrance test and previous studies decides your admission and scholarship. Many of the courses like Engineering, management, creative studies accepts students in this range of percentage along with a good percentage in the CUCET test. Yeah, Thapar does have that board merit route with JEE as a tiebreaker.
For CSE at Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, it's quite competitive even through boards.
Rough idea:
- You usually need around 95–97%+ in PCM to be safe
- With 93–95%, chances become borderline (depends on year)
- JEE percentile helps only in tie situations
Cutoffs fluctuate every year based on demand, but CSE is always the highest.
So if your board % is very strong, you've got a shot — otherwise it gets tough 👍

Not necessarily. While a 95% aggregate makes you eligible for a 100% scholarship, these are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis because seats are limited. Also this scholarship is only valid for your first year. Check the university's specific merit criteria to see if you can earn a different scholarship in your second and third years.

Yes, for the University of British Columbia admissions at UG level, a class 12th result from CBSE, ISC or State Board is accepted.
This admission process is surely quite competitive and it will require these CBSE students to have a minimum score of 85 to 88%.
Indian applicants also need high scores in relevant subjects like English and Mathematics.
