If you fail to clear CBSE 12th exam in one or two subjects, then apply for compartment exam. Failing in more than two, you need to retake the exam again.

If you fail in CBSE Class 12th exam in one or two subjects, they are placed in Compartment category. Students can retake those exams in July/August to pass. Failing in more than two subjects results in a 'Essential Repeat' requiring them to repeat the academic year and retake all exams.

After the release of CBSE class 12th Result 2026, students are required to collect the original mark sheet from their schools respectively. In case of a tie, all the students getting the same score or same grade. The number of candidates are divided into segments & the smaller will go with the larger.

Students need to secure  a minimum of 33% in each subject including theory, practicals and internal assessments. In a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in the theory and 33% marks in the practical separately.
