That's true, it all depends on your interest but one should always check the growth with respect to the subject. There has been saturation with respect to CSE but still some exceptions are there. You can opt for electrical or mechanical too which is still growing rapidly.

If your category is general and OBC, don't waste time for IIT or NIT, if you want to drop a year, you can select a state level college.

First of all, best of luck for you future. As, you asked what you will become after choosing civil branch in B.Tech of course you will become a civil engineer. The fact after becoming civil engineer, what will be you role? The answer is Civil engineers play an important role in our society. They design, construct, supervise, operate and maintain large construction projects and systems, including roads building, airports, house etc. For becoming a civil engineer one should be sound mathematically, scientific and IT skills.

No, there's no other exam for taking admission in Punjabi University apart from JEE Mains.
PU conducts Punjab B.Tech Admission through a centralised counselling process. This university does not conduct any entrance exam for admissions to the B.Tech programmes. Admissions are based on JEE Main scores and ranks and a candidate's performance in class 12th.

Both are better in their own way. In CSE, there is a huge demand of skilled engineers and it is increasing every year as everything is going to be online in the future. Civil engineering is also a very good career choice as you can apply for government sector or either you can open your own firm and earn a lot. So, choice is yours. Choose the branch according to your interest and reputation of college if you take civil in any IIT or good NIT, then it is good.
