Vel Tech Highlights 2025

Vel Tech University in Avadi, Chennai was established in the year 1997. It has been accredited with an A++ grade by NAAC and NBA. It was affiliated with University of Madras, but the affiliation shifted to Anna University. Vel Tech University has been ranked 96 and 86 in the University and Engineering category by NIRF 2024.

Vel Tech University courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels are offered in various fields. It has several schools such as the School of Law, School of Management, School of Commerce, School of Science & Humanities, etc. The courses include- BTech, BBA, BCom, BSc, MBA, MTech, MA, etc.

Vel Tech has international relations with more than 390 institutions across 30 countries and has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with 171+ institutions for various Academic and Research exchange activities. At present, the university offers approximately 50 programmes to students at UG, PG, and PhD levels. Most importantly, Vel Tech Chennai courses are provided to students at reasonable fees, to enable students to acquire knowledge and skills in their preferred area of interest. Vel Tech offers various courses with diverse specialisations at UG, PG and PhD level. The duration of the BTech programme is four years and that of the rest of the UG courses is three years. On the other hand, the duration of all PG programmes is of two years. The institute also offers a few integrated programmes of five-year duration. Q: Is it compulsory to give VTUEEE to get admission to BTech at Vel Tech?

No, it is not mandatory to qualify for VTUEEE, only if aspirants get more than 60% aggregate in their previous qualifying exam as per the minimum eligibility criteria. In this case, they can get direct admission to a four-year course of BTech at Vel Tech. If students do not fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria, they have to appear for VTUEEE, which is an in-house entrance exam conducted for admission to Engineering courses. Really good infrastructure and placements.

Placements: Around 65-75 percent of students from our batch are successfully placed through campus recruitment. The highest package offered is around 10-12 LPA. The lowest package is about 3 LPA, and the average package stood near 4.5-5 LPA. Top recruiting companies included TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, Accenture, Capgemini, and HCL. Nearly 60% of students secured internships in companies like TCS, Infosys, and startups. Common roles offered are Software Engineer, System Engineer, Analyst, and Support Engineer.

Infrastructure: The college provides good infrastructure with well-maintained classrooms. Along with a Wi-Fi-enabled campus, and properly equipped laboratories for practical learning. Library has a sufficient collection of textbooks, reference books, journals, and digital resources. Hostels are clean and secure, with regular maintenance. The mess food quality is average but hygienic. The canteen is affordable. Medical facilities are available on campus along with sports grounds and indoor games. It encourages overall student development.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful, well-qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. Most faculty members explain concepts clearly and are approachable for doubt clarification. The teaching quality is good, with a mix of theory and practical sessions. The curriculum is relevant. Semester exams are moderately difficult. The pass percentage is around 85-90% each year.

It is a good college with decent faculty.

Placements: Around 60-70% of students from our batch got placed through campus placement. Top companies included TCS and Infosys. Students also got some internships in IT and core companies with roles like software engineer, analyst, and trainee engineer, and students are getting good packages.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure for our course is quite good and well-maintained classrooms, proper labs and a library that has sufficient academic books and digital resources. The campus provides Wi-Fi connectivity for students. The hostel facilities are decent with clean rooms and regular water supply.

Faculty: Exams are not more difficult, pass percentage is 75%. The faculty members are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. Most teachers explain concepts clearly and provide support during exams and project work. The curriculum is fairly relevant and provides good classes.

Other: I am interested in electrical engineering, to learn more about electronics.

The college is very good and they have to improve.

Placements: In my course, nearly 60% of students have placed. The highest offered is 9 Lacs, the lowest package offered is 2.4 Lacs, and the average package will be 3.5 Lacs. The top companies will be Amazon, TCS, Accenture, Cognizant, etc. I don't know the percentage exactly, but some of our students got internship opportunities.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good, and we have labs for different departments. We also have different classrooms for different departments, and the library is good with good facilities. We have two college canteens, one for our branch and another for another branch, and the food facility is good. The medical facility is lacking, and we play different tournaments in college.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful. I can't say that teachers are fully prepared. Some faculty will be good, and some will not be good at teaching. The teachers don't have the basics, and the teaching quality is a little bit good. The curriculum is somewhat relevant to the industry.

Other: The best thing about college is the infrastructure and also the teachers with good communication. The hostel facility is good, and the things they need to improve are to maintain a good teaching faculty, and the food should be somewhat better. It should also be clean.
