NIFT is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology to shortlist candidates for the NIFT 2024 participating institutes. The NIFT entrance exam is conducted in two parts:
- Part I - It comprises the written exams - GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only BDes and MDes candidates need to take the CAT paper.
- Part II - Candidates are shortlisted for Part II based on their performance in the written exams. For BDes candidates, Part II comprises a Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is the BFTech program,

The cutoff trend for BTech at IIT Bhubaneswar has been increasing in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 12483. In 2022, it increased to 14224. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from 4487 to 4961 for OBC, 2386 to 2375 for SC, 796 to for ST, 1691 to 1982 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for Engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cutoff trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories, however, the ranks are slightly different.

The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For General category candidates under All India, opening rank was 9322 and closing rank was 11159. Cut offs are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In all India category, the opening and closing rank for female candidates was 16422 and 16897. Admission to BTech in Mechanical Engineering + M.Tech in Mechanical System Design at IIT Bhubaneswar is based on the scores obtained in the JEE entrance exam. Applicants are advised to confirm what category are they applying while checking for cut offs.

In 2022, the cut off was 9074 for General category candidates in all India quota for BTech in Mechanical Engineering at IIT Bhubaneswar - Indian Institute of Technology. For female candidates of General category under the all India quota, 17941 was the closing rank. BTech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/ quota of the applicant.
