Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) started offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in 1997. Initially, Engineering, Management and Computer Applications courses were introduced. KIIT faculty comprises expertise and degrees from institutes such as IITs and NITs. It has 170+ assistant professors and 30+ associate professors. The Institute has 3000+ faculty spread across the 20 Schools that offer all the programmes and researchers to facilitate academia for the students. KIIT Infrastructure
The Institute provides multiple facilities for its students such as Library, Wi-Fi Campus, Hostel, Boys Hostel, Girls Hostel, Convenience Store, Cafeteria, Shuttle Service, Auditorium, Hospital / Medical Facilities, Sports Complex, Gym, A/C Classrooms, Labs, Design Studio and Moot Court. KIIT central library has successfully built up a comprehensive collection of over 6,83,616 books covering different branches of knowledge. Besides, there are also more than 1,27,541 books available in electronic form covering varied subjects.The library subscribes to 718 print journals (both Indian and Foreign) specific to the academic and research needs of the academic community of the university. There are more than 28,000 electronic journals and 3.7 million e-theses & dissertations available in full text through the online databases subscribed by the library. There are also 6806 bound volumes journals in the library. Also holds a collection of VSS reports, MTS reports, Project reports, case studies, working papers, annual reports etc. in all subject areas being taught at the University. There are 20 hostels for boys and 11 hostels for girls are available with accommodation capacity of 10180 and 5648 students respectively. About 30% of the hostel rooms are air-conditioned and all the hostels have attached canteens serving good quality food. Each hostel has 24-hour reading room, the facility for indoor and outdoor games and wireless internet and intranet connectivity. There are 15 food courts specialized in cuisines from different parts of the world. University is facilitated by KIIT stadium, central indoor stadium and 10 sports complex distributed in different campuses.KIIT's Central Indoor Stadium Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium is the hub for indoor sports activities. KIIT can be considered as one of the most proactive institutes with a wide peripheral to expand through academics and co-curricular activities. Students can be a part of societies such as Korus, Kalakaar, Kreative Eye, Kzarshion and many more. In 2023, the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) Bhubaneswar had over 4,500 job offers from 350 companies. The highest package offered was INR 63 LPA, and the average package was INR 6.5 LPA. More than 5200 students received job offers, and 90% of students have been placed.
KIIT campus promotes anti-ragging policies with various awareness drives for the students to know the repercussions of the actions. Every campus owns a separate set of security features along with premises separate for girls. There is a separate sports premise for girls and hostel services as well to provide utmost safety and security amidst the campus environment.
The deemed-to-be university ranks 15 as per the NIRF 2024 rankings within the universities category. It ranks 11 in the Law category and 25 in the medical category. As per the latest placement stats, the highest package went around INR 53 LPA. The Institute provides placement cells to train the students and offer them good placement opportunities. The popular programmes that the Institute offers are BTech, BSc, MSc and MBA with more than 100 specialisations. Therefore, it can be concluded that KIIT is a good Institute.
KIIT offers B.Arch through the School of Architecture and Planning with the eligibility criteria of 50% in 10+2 along with the entrance exam scores of NATA and KIITEE and others, as per the Institute norms. KIIT B.Arch fees structure includes total tuition fees of INR 19 Lakh. Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology offers 40 seats for the B.Arch as a 5-year full-time course. An average package received during KIIT placement is INR 10.5 Lakh.
