On-campus housing is not provided by the Vancouver Community College. However, VCC has partnered with many local landlords to provide off-campus housing to international students. It helps provide apartments, suites, townhouses, or rooms to international students outside the campus.

Homestays

VCC also offers a homestay option for international students. Students can live with a Canadian family and experience the native way of living and culture. Liane’s Vancouver Homestay is in charge of placing international students with homestay families. Students get a private bedroom and other facilities such as laundry, telephone, meals, TV, kitchen, etc.

Homestays Cost

The fee for a homestay with Liane’s Vancouver Homestay is:

• Placement charge: CAD 290/INR 17.80k
• Homestay fee: CAD 868/INR 53.29k for 28 days
• Payment charge: CAD 9.50/INR 583 + GST per payment
• Airport transfers charge: CAD 73/INR 4.48k + GST

*CAD/INR = 61.41

From the date of complete application submission with the application fees, the average time required by VCC is 16 business days. As the selection process time frame may differ for different programs, it can take up to 16 business days for students to hear from the university.

Please note that decisions are announced online and all the student-specific communication from the university is done via email. Hence, students must register with an active email address to keep a track on all Vancouver Community College notifications, especially in their spam folder. Aspirants may also check their application status on the official admission portal of Vancouver Community College.

It is also recommended to stay updated with any announcements related to modifications or requirements in the admission process by remaining active on the university website.

The documents for application can differ based on the VCC courses. In general, the documents needed for the application at the VCC are:

• Proof of education, i.e., high school or post-secondary graduation mark sheet/certificate
• Transcripts from a certified translator
• English proficiency test score proof, i.e., IELTS/TOEFL score (if applicable)
• Any other course-specific documents required

For the two UG courses offered by VCC, the documents required for application are:

Bachelor of Applied Music

• A Certificate of Music Diploma equivalent to the VCC standards, with at least B average credit
• Two letters of recommendation from people who can comment on a student’s potential for success in the bachelor’s programme (letters of recommendation for the Applied Music programme should not be from family members or relatives)
• Two the latest 3,500-word research papers or studies in a related field (this will only be required at the time of audition for the Applied Music program)

Bachelor of Hospitality Management

• A certificate showing a two-year Diploma with no less than 60 credit points in Hospitality Management
• Post-secondary transcript by a sworn translator
• If you do not submit a Diploma in Hospitality Management, provide a Diploma certificate in Business or any other related field

The eligibility requirements for applying to different programs offered to international students at Vancouver Community College are given below:

Academic Requirement —

Applicants should have completed 12^th grade in a relevant discipline with good scores from a recognised board of education.

Age Requirement —

For admission to the VCC, an international student must be at least 17 years of age at the start of the course at VCC.

English Requirements for International Students —

English is the primary language used for learning at the VCC. There are 2 ways to go about it:

1. Standardized/external English exams
2. VCC English program

1. Standardized/external English exams

International students coming from non-English-speaking countries, such as India, need to prove their language proficiency through either of the following standardized English exam:

• CAEL (Canadian Academic English Test)
• Cambridge Assessment
• IELTS Academic
• TOEFL iBT
• DET

Duolingo English Test (DET)

Due to the shortage of IELTS and TOEFL test centers in various COVID-affected countries, VCC is currently accepting the Duolingo English Test scores. For post-degree Diploma programs at the VCC, the minimum DET score required is 105.

DET score varies depending upon the grade in which the international applicant studied while giving the exam. Refer to the score board below:

The minimum English proficiency test scores vary based on the courses at the VCC. 

These English proficiency tests are counted as external test options by the college. VCC also allows international students to learn English in its premises before starting any course at the college. International students who do not plan to give the external exams and are willing to study English VCC can refer to this option.

2. VCC English Program

There is a special arrangement at VCC for international students willing to improve their proficiency in English before joining the college. VCC’s partner language schools are established for international students who do not meet the English proficiency standards.

ILAC and ILSC are two partner schools of the VCC that can help students enhance their English proficiency. Once they complete the English language course from any of the VCC partner schools, they will receive a pathway certificate.

A pathway certificate is valid for 2 years and will help them get entry to the VCC. The pathway certificate is also recognised as proof of English proficiency by the Vancouver Community College.

Yes, a student without work experience can still be admitted to St. Thomas University for a BA. For entrance to any of the university's undergraduate programs, including the Bachelor of Arts program, work experience is not required. Nonetheless, the university's student employment programme offers chances for students to work on campus, independent of their ability to pay. Furthermore, the university offers opportunity for students to obtain real-world experience and form lasting relationships through its undergraduate programs.Therefore, although while work experience is not a prerequisite for admission to the BA degree at St. Thomas University, the school does offer chances and tools to help students further their careers and get real-world experience.
