 Bachelor's Program Admission Requirements

To be admitted to a bachelor's degree programme at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, you generally need:

Academic Qualifications

A university entrance qualification (“Hochschulzugangsberechtigung”):

German Abitur (general university entrance qualification)

Fachhochschulreife / Fachgebundene Hochschulreife (subject‑restricted or applied sciences entrance qualification)

International school‑leaving certificate that is recognised as comparable to the German entrance qualification (subject to official assessment).

If your foreign certificate does not automatically qualify, you can take the Feststellungsprüfung / university qualification exam or the Hochschule Fresenius entrance exam (online written + oral) to qualify.

Alternate Pathways

If you don't have a traditional entrance qualification, you may still be eligible to apply if you have:

A vocational qualification (e.g., completed apprenticeship) plus relevant experience

A master craftsman certificate or similar advanced qualification

A combination of vocational training + work experience

Passing a university entrance exam at Fresenius (for many foreign qualifications)

2. Master's Program Admission Requirements

Master's programs require:

Academic Qualifications

A recognised Bachelor's degree (usually with at least 180 ECTS credits) or equivalent from a university or university of applied sciences.

Some programs have subject‑specific prerequisites — e.g., business programs may require a related undergrad field or work experience.

Professional Experience

In many advanced or MBA programs, relevant professional work experience (often minimum 1–2 years) is required. 

Program Variations

Certain research or highly specialised master's may have additional criteria, including specific subject knowledge or tests — check the individual programme page for details. 

3. Language Requirements

English‑Taught Programs

Proof of English proficiency at CEFR Level B2 is typically required (e.g., TOEFL, IELTS).

For international programs, B2 is usually the minimum; check specific programme pages for exact test scores. 

German‑Taught Programs

If the programme is in German and you are not a native speaker, you need to show German proficiency equivalent to B2 (or sometimes higher for specific programs).

4. Application Process Notes

You can apply year‑round — there are generally no strict deadlines, but early application is recommended, especially if you need a student visa. 

The university conducts an admission interview (focused on motivation and fit, not academic testing) once you fulfil the basic criteria. 

Digital copies of documents are usually acceptable initially; certified copies may be required later.

Living in a historic university town also means access to a charming city, with nature, river-side walks, nearby forests/hills, easy access to other European cities. 

 Active student community & diverse campus life

The university hosts many clubs/organizations — cultural groups, student fraternities (or “corporations”), social-political groups, arts, music, etc. 

For many students, this leads to a dynamic social life: social gatherings, parties (faculty- or dorm-organized), concerts, meetups, and opportunities to explore interests beyond classes. 

Because there are a lot of students (including many internationals), it tends to be an open, multicultural environment — makes socialising and forming friendships easier.

For students interested in sciences/medicine, the “New Campus” offers excellent labs, libraries, and exposure to high-level research institutions, which can make academic life very fulfilling. 

 Balance between study, city life and nature

You get the “small-town university feel” — short distances between dorms, campus buildings, city centre — which makes commuting, walking or biking easy.

At the same time, the city and surroundings offer outdoorsy escape — rivers, forests, hills, nice walking/hiking — good for students who like a break from academic rigour. 

Public transport and connectivity are good (tram/bus/train) — so even if you don't live in dorms, getting around town or reaching campus is manageable.
