The Technical University of Munich has expanded to become one of the largest universities in Germany with campuses located across several locations in the country including: Munich, Garching, Freising, Heilbronn & Straubing.

The university also has an international campus located in Singapore: TUM Asia.

The GMAT score requirements varies based on the country of origin of the applicant.

The minimum GMAT score deemed acceptable for applicants from India, China, Bangladesh, Egypt or Pakistan is 640.

A GMAT Focus Edition score of around 585 is also deemed acceptable.

The average time taken by TUM to update students about their applications is 4-8 weeks. However, in some exceptional cases the application response may take more than 8 weeks as well.

The university advises its students to submit respective applications with all mandatory documents as early as possible to allow enough time for document & visa processing.

TUM does not have any specific GPA requirements for any of its courses. The admission offer is based on several prominent factors including grades.

All individuals that successfully complete the admission process are recipients of the admission letter, with there being no limited number of seats & no waiting list.

Course are available to be pursued in both English & German languages, however, some courses are available only in German & therefore having a good hold of the German language is recommended.

As per some student reviews on Shiksha Study Abroad, students must have a minimum B1 or B2 level proficiency of the German language.

TUM was founded in 1868 by the then King of Bavaria: Ludwig II under the name: Polytechische Schule München.

It was shut down during World War II where almost 80% of its properties were either stolen or destroyed. It restarted its functioning in 1946.

The institute was renamed to its current name: Technical University of Munich in 1970.

The institute opened multiple departments towards the end of the 20th century & also started the first ever international institute subsided by a German institution in the form of TUM Asia in Singapore in 2002.

The cost of living as part of university-maintained facilities in Munich ranges between INR 83 K-INR 1.10 L.

The cost of living along with family is higher, with two-bedroom apartments at Straubing & Heilbronn ranging between INR 73K-INR 1.10 L.

Students must also account for some other costs associated with living such as: food, public transport, etc.

As per student reviews posted on Shiksha Study Abroad, the Indian food in the city has been described as expensive & not upto the mark”. Therefore, students are advised to learn how to cook or look for more affordable dining options in the city.

The public transportation system has received positive reviews, with extra discounts being given to international students & its great accessibility to the city's popular places.

However, the Indian food in the city has been described as not upto the mark & expensive, therefore many students prefer to eat at McDonald's due to better affordability.
