The Department of Economics strictly adheres to the syllabus approved by Patna University, which is revised time to time. The latest revision of the syllabus was done in 2015.
The course offered by the Department is a regular Under-graduate course for a period of 36 months.
Admission in this programme is done through Common Entrance Test conducted by Patna University. Before PUCET, college entrance test was conducted.

The Department of Economics also runs a self financing three year vocational course – Bachelor in Business Administration.

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) curriculum has been introduced in BBA programme since 2019. The course offered by the Centre for BBA is a self-financing programme for a period of 36 months divided into six semesters.

The eligibility criteria for admission in this course is Intermediate with 45% marks. There are 60 seats sanctioned for admission in this course. To maintain the transparency in admission process, centralised entrance exam are conducted by Patna University.

Admission in B.A. (Economics) and BBA is done through Common Entrance Test conducted by Patna University. Teaching is imparted through various modes such as Classroom learning, Group Discussion, Lectures through Power Point Presentation etc.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, online teaching method has also been adopted by the department so that the learning activities of students is not suffered. Remedial or extra classes are also conducted by the faculty members for the slow learners as a booster dose.

The teaching faculty members are also engaged in mentoring the students on academic and personal issues. Learning through e-resources are encouraged due to the changing nature of education system. Student-centric learning methodologies are used for enhancing learning experiences. Students are encouraged to collect data from various Government departments and organizations, do market survey and present the survey reports. Seminars and Webinars are also organized by the department to bring academic flexibility in students. Class tests, Quizzes and Sent-up exams are conducted for continuous periodical evaluation of the progress of students.

Our college does not provide placements for B.Sc students. Companies won't visit our college to recruit B.Sc students. Only a few students got placed in BCA and BBA courses. Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is good.

Patna College offers various undergraduate courses in Arts, Commerce and Science. The college publishes the merit lists on its website as well as on the college notice boards, however, there is no individual notification sent to the applicants.

The intake for the B.M.C. course is 60 which might be changed from time to time only if the State Government makes an announcement regarding the same. The NRI quota reserves 5 additional seats which have a higher fee structure in comparison to that of Indian applicants. The College also reserves seats for the candidates belonging to SC/ST categories but the fee structure for all the students is the same.

Candidate can get the College Prospectus from the college campus by making a payment of INR 500/- either through a Challan or a Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, BMC Course, Patna College.

Firstly, when I came to this college with my father and my elder sister. We didn't know where to go, but after much inquiry, we got to know that we had to go to the Geography department. After taking a form, in that form what document we have to submit is written. Then we go to the seminar hall, where we have to submit the documents. And after submitting all the documents my admission is done.

To be eligible for this course you should pass your 12th with good marks. The application forms are available online and cost about 1100rs by the month of June or July. Obc SC and ST get a reservation. I don't want any kind of improvement in the admission process.
